Ireland

Students from the EU/EEA can work in Ireland without any permit, just like Irish students.

  • Minimum wage applies to student jobs too – €14.15 an hour (2026) from age 20, with lower rates at 18 and 19.
  • Before your first job get a PPS number and register the job with Revenue – otherwise you may pay emergency tax.
  • Seasonal and summer jobs, for example fruit picking, give you the same employment rights as other temporary or fixed-term workers.
  • Under 18: no more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.

Students from outside the EU/EEA with Stamp 2 permission may work up to 20 hours a week during term and up to 40 hours a week in June, July, August and September and from 15 December to 15 January.
