Bulgaria

Country: Bulgaria

Bulgaria has used the euro since 1 January 2026, its minimum wage is €620 a month and income tax is a flat 10%. Unemployment fell to 3.5% in 2025, and there are shortages of IT specialists, engineers, nurses, teachers and skilled tradespeople. Find out where to look for a job and what to do in your first weeks.

A Bulgarian application usually contains:

  • a CV – the Europass CV format is recommended,
  • a short cover letter – employers usually ask for one,
  • references from previous employers,
  • documents on your education – translated into Bulgarian and authenticated.

Write in Bulgarian unless the ad says otherwise – most employers expect it.

Diplomas: a foreign diploma must be authenticated in the country that issued it and come with a legal Bulgarian translation – the same applies to professional licences. The Bulgarian ENIC-NARIC centre NACID recognises foreign higher-education degrees and keeps the list of regulated professions in Bulgaria.
